Can computers cause eye damage?

Can staring at a computer monitor cause an increase in eye pressure and lead to glaucoma?Can computers cause eye damage?
Look it up through google. In Japan they did a study of thousands of computer users and found a definite increase in glaucoma among heavy users.
Never heard any proof of that. I have heard that there is strong evidence that it can lead to eye strain.
